Rosetta - An extraordinary mission

One of the most successful space exploration missions, Rosetta, ended in a controlled descent to the surface of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The spacecraft flew eccentric orbits around the comet, getting nearer and nearer to the surface. This was in many ways even riskier than the final descent itself. Rosetta has been studying comet 67P for almost two years. Now the comet moved away from the Sun and Rosetta had less and less power to run its scientific instruments and sub-systems.

Rosetta you made it ! You wrote space history [...] and now you deserve a rest together with Philae on the comet 67P Tschurjumov-Gerassimenko. Sleep well and orbit forever around the sun.
